After stripping the trim and removing all paint from the corrosion areas, we found that both B pillars and outer sill areas were rotten. We quickly sourced replacement panels and started marking out how much metal needed to be replaced. These areas were cut out and new panels welded in slowly helping this car take shape.
Unfortunately the passenger's side front wing had seen better days and we decided that no amount of repair would look right or last so this panel also needed to be replaced.
Again we tried to source a good (yet this time second hand) replacement, but we had no such luck as most of these cars were suffering the same problem. Therefore we bit the bullet and bought a brand new wing/fender directly from Porsche, which at roughly £500.00 each is not an easy purchase to make! Well worth it though, as the final finished car will show.
Now that the welding is completed and we have all the replacement panels, we can start the paint preparation. Any repaired areas on the Porsche are reshaped and paint edges feathered back completely smooth. The rest of the body is rubbed down and imperfections removed to provide a good keyed surface for the primer.

The Porsche is moved in to the Low Bake Oven where it is masked up and degreased. The body shell is then given 4 to 5 coats of a high build 2K primer. Again the panels are done separately, but in the same manner. Once primed the shell is given a black mis-coat, called a guide coat.
The body is then removed from the oven and rubbed down 3 to 4 times using different grades of paper and techniques, re-guide coating each time. It is very important to use a guide as it will help show up any imperfections in the body.
Once the shell has been rubbed down and cleaned the body is moved back into the oven, degreased again and masked up ready for final paint.
